Trezor Suite App — Desktop & Web

Manage your hardware wallet, portfolio, transactions and device settings securely from the desktop or the browser.

Overview

Trezor Suite is the official companion application for Trezor hardware wallets. Built to provide an intuitive, secure interface for interacting with cryptocurrencies, Trezor Suite works both as a desktop application and as a web app. It is designed to keep your private keys off the internet and on your hardware device while giving you powerful tools to manage accounts, send and receive funds, and maintain your device.

This guide explains the core features and workflows of Trezor Suite — from initial setup to advanced security options and integrations.

Key Features

Secure Device Management

Connect your Trezor device to access device settings, perform firmware updates, manage passphrase protection, and verify device authenticity. Firmware updates are signed and verified to ensure the integrity of the device software.

Account & Portfolio

View all your cryptocurrency balances in one place. The portfolio view aggregates supported coins and tokens, shows historical performance, and provides detailed account transaction histories.

Send & Receive

Prepare transactions in Suite and confirm them securely on your Trezor hardware wallet. Advanced options include custom fees, coin control (where available), and transaction previews that show exactly what will be signed.

Integrated Exchange & Swap

Some builds of Trezor Suite include integrated swap and exchange partners so you can trade between supported assets without leaving the Suite interface. Trades are executed through third-party liquidity providers while your signing keys remain on the device.

Desktop vs Web — Which to Use?

Trezor Suite is available as a downloadable desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux, and also as a web app you can open in modern browsers. Both interfaces share the same core functionality, but there are practical differences to consider:

  • Desktop App: Runs locally, can be used offline for some operations, and is often preferred by users who want a persistent native experience.
  • Web App: Accessible from any machine with a supported browser. The web version still requires the Trezor device to be connected to sign transactions — private keys never leave the device.

Choose the interface that fits your workflow. Security is preserved in both cases because signing always happens on the hardware wallet.

Security & Privacy

Trezor Suite is built around the principle that private keys must never be exposed to the internet. Important security concepts:

  • Seed & Backup: Your recovery seed (the master backup phrase) is generated on the device. Write it down and store it securely — Trezor Suite will never ask you to upload it or type it into the computer.
  • Passphrase Support: Optional passphrase functionality lets you add a secret word to your seed for plausible deniability and additional account separation. Use this carefully — losing the passphrase means losing access to the funds it protects.
  • Device Verification: Confirm your device model and fingerprint when you first connect. Trezor Suite can help verify firmware signatures and guide you through legitimate firmware updates.
  • Offline Recovery Mode: In critical situations you can use your seed on a different device or a secure offline environment. Always follow best practices when performing recovery.

Supported Coins & Tokens

Trezor devices support a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including major blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as many ERC-20 tokens and several other networks. In Trezor Suite you can create accounts for each supported coin, view balances, and transact. Token support and integrations may vary by network and by Suite release.

Getting Started — Quick Setup

  1. Download or open Suite: Install the desktop app or open the web app in a compatible browser.
  2. Connect Your Device: Plug in your Trezor hardware wallet and follow on-screen prompts to initialize or unlock the device.
  3. Create or Recover Seed: Generate a new recovery seed on the device, or recover an existing wallet using your seed words.
  4. Install Apps/Accounts: Add accounts for the coins you want to use. For some networks additional steps or third-party integrations may be required.
  5. Backup & Verify: Confirm you have securely recorded your recovery seed and consider additional backups stored in separate locations.

Once setup is complete you can begin sending and receiving cryptocurrencies, checking your portfolio, and exploring advanced settings.

Practical Tips

  • Always confirm transaction details on the Trezor device screen — the signed data shown on the computer may be manipulated if your host is compromised.
  • Use a strong, unique passphrase if you enable passphrase support. Treat the passphrase as part of the key.
  • Keep your firmware up to date, but only install updates from official sources and through Suite.
  • Consider using a dedicated machine for high-value operations and avoid entering the recovery seed into internet-connected devices.

Integrations & Developer Tools

Trezor Suite supports connections to several third-party services and dApps. Developers can integrate Trezor via available libraries and APIs to allow secure signing and account management inside other applications. If you are building an integration, follow best practices for user prompts and always direct users to verify transactions on the physical device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Suite ever receive my private keys?

No. Private keys are generated and stored on the hardware device. Suite only sends unsigned transaction data to the device for signing and receives the signed transaction to broadcast.

Can I use Suite without a Trezor device?

Basic browsing of the app interface may be possible, but to create accounts, sign transactions, and access funds you must connect a supported Trezor hardware wallet.

What happens if I lose my device?

If you lose your device but have a secure copy of your recovery seed, you can restore your wallet and access funds on a new compatible device. If the seed is lost and you do not have backups, funds are unrecoverable.
